Join City Sightseeing this week of the October school holidays and take advantage of the last few days of the 3-for-1 Special.  This special has been running for a few months and ends on 10 October, so now is the perfect timing for you and your family to hop on board and enjoy the best of the City of Gold.  When you buy one adult one-day ticket for R275, you can bring two children (under the age of 18) for free. Yes, for free!  Tickets are only available online so be sure to book in advance.

Our open-top red bus will take you around the Jozi allowing you to hop on and off the bus at 16 stops that take you to over 20 of Johannesburg's top attractions. It's secure, entertaining, educational, fun and convenient.

·         If your kids love water, a visit to Zoo Lake (stop no. 2) is a must.  There is always a buzz of activity, with dog walkers, joggers, skateboarders, and kids enjoying the expansive gardens and outdoor space that surrounds the man-made lake, which is ideal for a holiday outing. Hire a rowboat and take in the sights and sounds of the lake. The rowboats can accommodate up to 6 people per boat, making it an excellent activity for both parents and children.

·         The Johannesburg Zoo (stop no. 3) is another must which is home to over 320 species housed within 54 hectares of lush greenery. You can spend hours here viewing their collection of Amphibians (Frogs), Arachnida (Spiders), birds, reptiles, fish, and over 100 different mammals.

·         A one-stop fun destination during the holidays is definitely Gold Reef City (stop no. 13). This theme park, the largest of its kind in South Africa, offers 18 thrilling rides, 13 of which are dedicated to children, as well as the Jump City Trampoline Park. The Anaconda is a "must-ride" for older or taller kids (over 1.3m tall) or parents, with a 9 out of 10 "Fear Factor" rating. This high-speed thrill ride is designed for adrenaline junkies who crave fast twists and turns. After a thrilling ride or a tour of the gold mine, you'll be spoilt for choice of where to eat, as the park has 12 dining options to suit every taste and budget. Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance.

In addition, our route covers the following stops:

·         Military Museum - officially opened in August 1947, this museum was created to preserve the history of South Africa's participation in the Second World War. Split over 6 different exhibits your dad can view the numerous exhibits including various field guns, Artifacts from the Royal Air Force, large medal collections from various veterans of the armed forces, including artefacts from various countries such as uniforms, firearms, helmets, flags, etc.

·         Constitution Hill - a living museum that chronicles South Africa's democratic transition. The location is a former jail and military fort that bears witness to South Africa's turbulent history and now houses the country's Constitutional Court, which protects the rights of all citizens.

·         Mining District Walk – here we recommend a 30-60 minute stop, where the Main Street Mall extends through the corporate mining district of Johannesburg. It has the offices of some of the world's major mining firms, as well as a very interesting outdoor museum depicting South Africa's mining history and heritage.

·         James Hall Transport Museum – this is the largest and most comprehensive museum of land transport in South Africa. It was established by the late Jimmie Hall together with the City of Johannesburg in February 1964.

·         Apartheid Museum includes interactive displays, film footage, and historic photos portraying Apartheid South Africa and the country's road to democracy.

·         Newtown – this precinct, which dates back to the 1880s, has a long history of biodiversity and culture. It's now the heart of the city of Gold's progress and arts, with new developments growing and an abundance of art galleries, museums, and theatres.

·         Braamfontein - This neighbourhood is quickly becoming Jozi's ‘hipster hub’, where numerous curb-side restaurants and cafes can be enjoyed. The Nelson Mandela Bridge connects it to Newtown, and it borders the city centre.
