Whether you are looking for relaxing family activities or something to get the adrenalin flowing, the V&A Waterfront is the place to be. We have listed our top activities that are sure to satisfy the whole family’s needs.

1. Spot the sights and seals with the City Sightseeing Waterfront Harbour Cruise

Looking to enjoy the picturesque V&A Waterfront in a leisurely way? Hop on a boat courtesy of a Waterfront Harbour Cruise and enjoy the stunning sights, attractions and views from a different angle. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for the seals playing in the water!

What to know:

  • The City Sightseeing Waterfront Harbour Cruise departs from and returns to the jetty outside the Two Oceans Aquarium at the V&A Waterfront
  • Waterfront Harbour Cruise tickets cost R60 per person (R45 if you book online) and R30 for kids
  • Total tour duration: approx. 25 minutes
  • Commentary is available in 15 languages (English, Afrikaans, Arabic, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Zulu) with a special channel for kids

2. Find Nemo at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Home to over 3 000 marine creatures, including penguins, giant crabs and of course Yoshi the giant sea turtle, the Two Oceans Aquarium will prove an enlightening destination for old and young. Don’t forget to snap a photo at the interactive clownfish exhibit as proof to friends and family that you’ve found Nemo. Since it’s located right next to the City Sightseeing ticket office, why not hop on a red bus and enjoy so much more that Cape Town has to offer.

What to know:

  • Keep at least two hours in your schedule to enjoy the full experience that the Two Oceans Aquarium has on offer
  • Entry to the aquarium costs R135 for adults, R100 for children aged 14 to 17, R65 for children aged 4 to 13 and R100 for pensioners and students presenting a valid card
  • With a City Sightseeing ticket adults get R10 off and children R5 off on entry at Two Oceans Aquarium, 20% discount on the Cape Wheel, 15% off scheduled boat trips with the Waterfront Boat Company and Waterfront Adventures (Quay 5), 15% off your meal at the Greek Fisherman, City Grill and/or Meloncino restaurants located at the Victoria Wharf (Ts & Cs apply. 3. Hop on the City Sightseeing red bus for an unforgettable adventure

See Table Mountain, Camps Bay and a selection of few wine farms with the City Sightseeing red bus. Start at STOP 1 at the V&A Waterfront, then take the Yellow Downtown Tour, Blue Mini Peninsula Tour or the Purple Wine Tour – all with one ticket that will allow you access to all these exciting tours.

What to know:

  • Buy your tickets either at the V&A Waterfront City Sightseeing ticket office at STOP 1 (right across from the Two Oceans Aquarium) or buy them online to skip unnecessary queues and to qualify for a 20% discount
  • Buses depart regularly every 15 minutes at each stop, with the first bus departing from Stop 1 at the V&A Waterfront at 8am
