Meet your heroes at Comic-Con South Africa

After it’s roaring success last year, Comic-Con is back this September with an amazing line-up! Comic-Con is fun for all ages, with stalls, sneak peeks, and discussions on gaming, anime, cartoons, comics, movies, and more. Kids can meet their heroes as some of the best cosplayers from across the world flock to the convention to show off their expertly crafted costumes. You and the kids can also dress up to get into the spirit of the event.

There will also be some big names appearing at the convention, such as Star Trek legend William Shatner, King of the Seven Kingdoms Isaac Hempstead Wright, better known as Bran Stark, and Marvel’s Anthony Mackie, known as The Falcon.

Spend a fun-filled day at Gold Reef City Theme Park

There’s nothing as exciting as a theme park! Watch the kids' faces light up as they arrive at Gold Reef City to be greeted with raging rapids, racing roller coasters, and even a heartstopping vertical drop ride. There are rides suitable for all ages, and theme park games where you play to win prizes!

The theme park sits atop an old gold mine and is themed around the gold rush in Johannesburg back in the 1800s. You can even go on an underground tour of the old gold mine. It’s concluded with a live viewing of a real gold pour to turn it into a gold bar.

You can find Gold Reef City at STOP 13, and if you produce your City Sightseeing bus ticket you can take the mine tour for just R110 per person. The tour lasts for about 2 hours.

Take a trip to the beach at Sun City’s Valley of the Waves

Start the day early and load the family in the car to head out to Sun City! About 2 and a half-hours drive out of Jozi, the sunny resort is well worth the wait, and the whole family won’t get enough of the Valley of the Waves. With an artificial sandy beach and cove that produces real waves, it’s the best way to spend a day at the beach in Gauteng. There are also lots of water slides in the park, and a lazy river for you to float along in on inflatable tubes.

You can find many pools in the resort, and the water has varying depths, so even the little ones can swim safely. There are always lifeguards on duty to keep a watchful eye over the swimmers.

Once you have had your fill of the waterpark, the whole family can enjoy some 10 pin bowling, or the kids can have a blast at the arcade while the parents try out the slots at the casino to end off a day of fun in the sun.
