The Sunset Tour with City Sightseeing is back this September

Springtime is finally here, bringing with it warmer days, colourful spring flowers, and a later sunset. It’s the perfect time to get out there and see the beauty of Cape Town, and what better way than to watch one of Cape Town’s awe-inspiring sunsets with City Sightseeing. On the 21st of September, our Sunset bus tour will be operating again to take you on a tour up Signal Hill to watch the sun dip below the horizon and enjoy a relaxing picnic.

The sunset tour departs every day from the City Sightseeing STOP 1 at the V&A Waterfront, near the Two Oceans Aquarium. The bus will depart between 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM, but when you make your booking online you will have a departure time given to you. The tour lasts about 3 hours, giving sightseers ample time to relax and drink in the sunset. When you end your day at STOP 5, there is an additional shuttle that can take passengers from STOP 5 on Long Street to the V&A Waterfront to hop on the bus.

The Sunset bus isn’t a hop on hop off bus, but you won’t want to as you enjoy the scenic route from the Waterfront to Signal Hill. Sit back and bask in the view of the spectacular Atlantic seaboard as you pass through Sea Point, Clifton, and Camps Bay, taking in the beaches and waves lit up brilliant shades of amber and pink from the setting sun. Then it’s up past Lion’s Head to Signal Hill, where passengers will be given the chance to hop off, explore and set up their blankets for a wonderful picnic.

We encourage our sightseers to bring a picnic for this tour, as you will spend the perfect amount of time watching the sunset to savour a prepacked dinner or a decadent cheese platter. Bring a picnic blanket along to make things comfortable.

Once the sun has set, it’s back on the bus to head back to the V&A Waterfront, through town to delight in the fantastic city lights. Be sure to bring a warm jacket for the evening, it can sometimes get chilly at sundown and into the evening.
