Parading about with the Cape Town Carnival
On Saturday, 18 March, the red bus wowed thousands of spectators as it made its way through the Cape Town Carnival parade. This year’s theme AMAZA! Ocean Odyssey showcased a wonderworld of marine creatures alongside 2 000 performers, dancers and acrobats. Partnering with the Two Oceans Aquarium, the red bus acted as a float so a series of marine creatures, including the much-loved ocean character Nemo, could swim through the crowds.
Apart from the parade, spectators could also book seats on City Sightseeing’s red bus pavilions along the Fan Walk for bird’s-eye views of the spectacle.
Here’s some of the social media coverage from the carnival. Doesn’t it look like fun to be at the top of the red bus?
We found Nemo! Among the ocean critters, Nemo was definitely a crowd favourite waving from the top of the red bus.
There she goes! Spectators shared their photos of the red bus as it moved along in the parade.
Thousands of spectators lined the Cape Town Fan Walk from early on Saturday. Some clever spectators even bought seats on the top of a stationary red bus used as a pavilion for the best view in town!
The red bus was all over the Cape Town Carnival. From the parade to spectator stands!
We can’t wait for next year’s Cape Town Carnival. It was so much fun to be part of such an AMAZA! event.
