Fun Things to Do for Kids in Cape Town

SPECIAL WELCOME TO ALL OUR NEW FRIENDS!

Hello Friends!
Spring is sprung, the grass is ris.
I wonder where the birdies is?
They say the bird is on the wing.
But that's absurd?
I thought the wing was on the bird.

That's right, spring is here, which means the trees will soon be covered in leaves, flowers will soon cover the ground and animals will be coming out of hibernation. The Springboks are off to New Zealand to defend their title as the World Champions. Are you ready to cheer for them?

Winter Competition

Well done to Mia from Somerset West who the winner of the Winter Competition. Her colourful creation and colouring-in talents won her and her family a trip around Cape Town on the City Sightseeing bus.

This is your last chance to enter so go to the kids club website and download the picture to colour in.

Stop of the Month: Cape Town Castle
V&A Waterfront & Stop 1
The Cape Town Castle was once on the sea front of Cape Town, with the waves breaking onto its walls. Today the sea has been pushed backt, which makes getting to the castle and exploring this awesome piece of history much easier.

Stop #10 on the red city tour opens up a door into Cape Town's past that is sometimes hard to believe when you're riding through the city on top of one of our busses. So hop off the bus at this stop and learn what life was like in the cape when the settlers first arrived.
Spotted on Table Mountain
V&A Aquarium stop1, Kids Egg Hunt
On the 5th of August something very unusual was spotted on Table Mountain..., I'll give you some clues, it is white, it is very rare in Cape Town and it goes into hiding when the sun comes out. Any idea? Well I don't blame you if you couldn't guess it, as it is not every-day that we see it. The answer is snow! That's right early in the morning we were lucky enough to get a bit of snow on the very top of the mountain, it didn't last long mind you and there was barely enough to build a snow dassie, but it was fun nonetheless. SPOTTED at the Two Oceans Aquarium
Easter Bunny on Table Mountain!
Arbor Week

During the first week of September, South Africans celebrate Arbor Week. At the Two Oceans Aquarium, they have their very own underwater forest. The Kelp Forest is where kelp plants grow like tall trees, fish swim through the fronds like birds and abalone, sea urchins and rock lobsters feed and take cover among the root-like holdfasts. The Kelp Forest at the Aquarium is one of only 3 on display in the world, so take advantage of this unique opportunity and make your way down to the Two Oceans Aquarium and explore this magical underwater world.
Cape Town Facts
Adderley Street - Statue
This month we're moving away from the historical information and bringing you with some facts about the Cape Town stadium. Did you know that it took 96 000 cubic metres of concrete to build the stadium and that it sits on a site equivalent to six city blocks?

The builders used over five million bricks in construction. That means thatif you were to place every brick used one on top of the other you would need an incredibly tall ladder.
FACTS about the Red Bus
City Sightseeing Cape Town - Multi-Language System
Meet "Beef", City Sightseeing's Original Beefeater Bus direct from London, dating back to 1953. Visitors to the Atlantic Rail Steam Train Open Day had the opportunity to experience a journey on Beefy. It is incredible to see how much buses have progressed in just over 50 years.

Remember our Kids Special is still valid until the end of October: 2 Kids (under the age of 18) travel for free with every 1 full paying adult. Valid on weekends, public holidays and school holidays! Make sure you don't miss out during your September holiday. [Read More]
