Stop of the Month: Stop 20 – The Kirstenbosch Gardens

| With all these different plants it is important to have a place that protects them and educates people about how lucky we are in Cape Town. Kirstenbosch Gardens sits on the slopes of Devils Peak and Table Mountain overlooking the Southern Suburbs. With its' hidden hedges and secret shrubberies the gardens are a perfect place for a young explorer to get off the bus. |
Spotted on Table Mountain National Park

The Table Mountain National Park has a new resident!
A zebra foal was born in the park last month. The first foal in 10 years! According to the Snr. Section Ranger, the group, consisting of 2 mares, the foal and a stallion, is still very nervous and protective. This is great news for wildlife all over the peninsula and a good reflection of all the hard work all the men and women of the National Parks Board are doing. |
SPOTTED at the Two Oceans Aquarium

Longsnout pipefish
Pipefish are related to seahorses and just like seahorses, the males have a special pouch where they carry the fertilised eggs. When the eggs hatch, the male pipefish "gives birth" to live young. |
