Sit back and relax in the bird hide, observing this peaceful environment.

WHAT ANIMAL WAS SPOTTED ON TABLE MOUNTAIN THIS MONTH?
|
|
The Peregrine Falconis one of the most widely distributed bird species on earth. They are specialized aerial hunters. The female is on average 30-40 percent larger than the male. The peregrine’s body is designed to achieve extreme speeds in near-vertical dives. It uses height and gravity to plummet earthwards at speeds of up to 400km per hours. The Peregrine Falcon hunts for small reptiles such as lizards, geckos and bush snakes. The falcon is monogamous, finding one partner for life. Most peregrine pairs lay eggs within the first 3 weeks of September and the hatchlings emerge about a month later.

| FACTS ABOUT CAPE TOWN |

The Foreshore
More than 60 years ago, the Foreshore reclamation provided an opportunity to make the city more accessible and pedestrian friendly.
Cape Town’s central business district virtually doubled in size in just seven years. It was hailed as one of the greatest re-planning projects ever attempted anywhere. Work started in 1937 and was completed in 1945, after being delayed by the Second World War. A 230ha tract of Foreshore land was created in the process for city expansion.
