WHAT ANIMAL WAS SPOTTED ON TABLE MOUNTAIN THIS MONTH?
|
|
Cape Francolin: This bird is widespread in the Southwestern Cape. It is easily recognisable by its red legs. It lays 6 – 8 eggs in a grass-lined patch under a bush. On occasion two females will lay eggs in one nest. If disturbed the Francolin will run rather than fly away. They can become very tame if disturbance is limited and will feed in gardens, by roadsides or with farmyard chickens.

Did you know that we have GAMES FOR FUN on our Kids Club website page? Get to know the sounds our wildlife make. The lion sounds really scary, but we love the sweet, gentle whinny of the Zebra!
Try building the puzzle picture by sliding pieces around. This is not as easy as it sounds. Let us know if you have mastered it!

| FACTS ABOUT CAPE TOWN |

Did you know that Robben Island historic Jetty 1 is part of a heritage site? The site on which this building stands has been the departure point to Robben Island since the 1800’s. For prisoners Jetty 1 offered glimpses of normal life and a hint of freedom. For prison warders and their family this site was associated with mixed emotions – the organised prison village versus the joys of island life.
Visit exhibits installed in the cells and waiting rooms.
Find Jetty 1 on the Quay 5 at the V&A Waterfront.
