It is hard to believe that
the first half of this year is nearly over already! They say that
time flies when you are having fun – and we have been having plenty
of that here in Cape Town as the final preparations have been put in
place for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, amidst a string of exciting events
that have been taking place in the Mother City.
Finally, it is here!
After months of excitement, anticipation and preparation, the World Cup
is upon us and if the enthusiasm being felt by all is anything to go by
it will be a phenomenal, truly unforgettable event for all - visitors
and locals alike.
To all officials, players
and spectators, City Sightseeing wish the best to everyone involved with
the success of this long-awaited, exciting tournament. And of
course – the best of luck to the Bafana Bafana, may they excel in
their matches.
In addition to the other
seven matches, the semi-final is to be held in Cape Town on 6 July and
we look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful city. As
ambassadors of your Cape Town experience and ultimately of your World
Cup experience, City Sightseeing will ensure that we do our utmost to
make certain that your time spent here is wonderful and memorable!
The Cape Autumn will soon
be giving way to Winter and there is still so much to do in Cape Town in
the cooler months. The beautiful Mother City has such a range of
exciting things to do and places to go and, together with City
Sightseeing, you can be sure that you will never struggle to find
something fun and interesting to do – no matter what the
weather turns out to be!

INTERESTING INFO
Adding to
Cape Town’s magical uniqueness is the fact that the whole of the
city centre stands on reclaimed land. In fact, the walls of the Castle
of Good Hope mark the original boundary of the seashore, where the waves
washed up against the fortifications.

The Company
Gardens, a green jewel in the heart of Cape Town, is actually the
remaining half of a fresh produce garden that was planted in 1652 by
Dutch settlers who wanted to establish a
refreshment station to service and re-provision spice-trading
sailing ships on the long sea route to the East. It was proclaimed for public
use in 1848, making it the oldest public garden in South Africa.
Long Street in the Cape
Town CBD, with its unique architecture and irrepressible spirit, is a
lively and colourful street. It is one of the oldest street in Cape Town, with
a length of 3.8 kilometres. You can top up your tour with a City Walk at Stops 4 and 5. The walk takes a minimum of 15 minutes
and is the perfect way to see the sights of Long Street up-close and
personal.
