It’s time to play outside!
That’s right guys, summer is here and it’s time again to head outdoors for bucket loads of fun in the sun. Switch off the TV, grab some shorts, grab your buddies and let the good times roll. Hey, just remember to cover up with sunscreen – the African sun can be a mean playmate at the best of times. Oh yes and make sure you pass the November exams with flying colours (best of luck with that by the way) the holidays only get better when mom and dad have big smiles on their faces also.
Here at City Sightseeing we’re celebrating summer with an exciting new competition where you can win a private sunset canal cruise for you and 20 friends.
Enter the Canal Cruise Competition and stand a chance to win a private cruise for you and 20 friends! All you have to do is come up with a name for our new canal boat. Read more about the competition under Facts About the Red Bus. After that run outdoors and enjoy summer!

STOP of the MONTH

| Camps Bay, Stop14. Did you know Camps Bay gets its name from a sailor named Van Kampz and not from the fact that it was once one of the most scenic camping spots on the planet? Strange, right? Tucked away in the shadow of Lion’s Head with a pristine white, palm fringed beach and countless restaurants Camps Bay is one of the top three spots to visit in Cape Town and stop number 14 on our open-top bus route. While you’re there, pop into Sinful for a scoop of some the best ice cream in Cape Town. |
SPOTTED at the AQUARIUM

The Two Oceans Aquarium, Stop 1. is not only home to a variety fish, they also have many sea turtles on display and this month we take a look at the Green Turtle. Green turtles are olive-green in colour, but ironically got their name from the greenish colour of their fat! They have a short snout and their beak is not hooked like the loggerhead turtle’s beak. Adult green turtles feed mainly on seaweed and sea grass and can often be seen close inshore, basking at the surface. And no, they’re not related to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

FACTS about Cape Town

| McDonald’s may be the newest restaurant in town but the best food can undoubtedly still be found at the oldest establishment to dish up grub in Cape Town – The Constantia Nek Restaurant. Founded in 1923 this quaint restaurant is situated at the summit of Constantia Nek pass and is the connecting link between Hout Bay, Constantia and Newlands. You can visit this beautiful landmark, which now offers a Saturday Craft Market in their Gardens. Just remember to take in all the sights on the way and come hungry when you are on the Blue Tour bus. |
FACTS about the Red Bus

This month’s fact is not about a bus - but a boat! The Shosholoza Canal Cruiser to be exact. The Shosholoza operates on the canals in and around the V&A Waterfront stopping at the One & Only, the City Lodge, Harbour Bridge and The Convention Centre. This Hop On-Hop Off canal cruise is a brand new offering from City Sightseeing and gives you the chance to see the Waterfront from a completely different angle.
Enter the Canal Cruise Competition and stand a chance to win a private cruise for you and 20 friends! Here’s the catch: We need a name for our new canal boat to accompany the Shosholoza. Come up with the best African name that reflects the warm heart of our company AND the strong cultural heritage of South Africa you’ll not only win the cruise – but you also get to crack the sparkling wine to launch the boat.
Entries close: Saturday, 12 November. Enter by posting your proposed name on our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/CitySightseeingCapeTown or on the Competition Page.
