Chamber Music Breakfast Concerts

Experience a unique blend of music and food on Sunday mornings during the Winter months of July and August. The concerts are held in the beautiful garden setting in the thatched Lecture Hall next to the Kirstenbosch Tea Room. The audience will be treated to a lavish buffet breakfast before enjoying an hour of the finest Chamber music available in Cape Town. Advanced booking is recommended.

Fynbos and the Cape Floral Kingdom

There are over 2000 species of fynbos on Table Mountain alone. Visitors can see and walk in fynbos on the slopes and top of Table Mountain. Also, don’t miss the opportunity to spot the Protea, South Africa’s national flower. Fynbos, meaning “fine bush”, is a unique and strikingly beautiful group of flora endemic to a small section of the Western Cape of South Africa. There are only six floral kingdoms in the world, and fynbos not only constitutes one kingdom (the smallest) all on its own, but is the only one occurring entirely within one country – South Africa.

Golf Cart Tours

Golf cart tours of the garden are on offer from 09h00 to 15h00 on fair-weather days at R35 per person (max 7 passengers).

Guided Garden Walks

Guided Garden Walks are free of charge and take approximately 90 minutes. In case of rainy weather a conservatory tour will replace the advertised walk.

Kirstenbosch Craft Market

The Craftmarket takes place on the last Sunday of the month, excluding winter (June, July and August) and in December the market takes place on two Sundays. The venue is the grounds of the Kirstenbosch Stone Cottages, corner Kirstenbosch Drive and Rhodes Avenue, diagonally opposite the main entrance to Kirstenbosch Gardens. The market consists of approximately 180 crafters who sell original, hand-crafted goods of a very high quality. A large variety of refreshments are available, and pony rides are very popular with children. Proceeds from stall rentals go to the Development Fund for Kirstenbosch Gardens.

There is no better way to spend a winter Sunday evening in Cape Town than at the hugely popular Kirstenbosch Winter Warmer concerts that take place in its lovely Silver Tree Restaurant. Summer Sunset Concerts

Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are a wonderful way to spend a Sunday evening in Cape Town. All music lovers are catered for in the open-air amphitheatre as they enjoy the concert while sitting under the stars.

Wednesday Talks

“Roomtogrow”, in conjunction with Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens , hosts fortnightly Wednesday garden talks at Kirstenbosch in the Sanlam Hall. Diverse and interesting topics related to gardening and plants are discussed. Subjects include garden maintenance, herbs, bugs, garden design, fynbos gardening and many more. Entry fees to the garden apply, although the talks are free and all is welcome.

The Botanical Society Bookshop sells a fantastic and wide range of books on flora, fauna and natural history as well as great garden-related books, educational and other children's books and stationery. The Kirstenbosch Garden Centre

This nursery specialising in indigenous plants offers a wide range of plants including bulbs, succulents, groundcovers, trees, shrubs, climbers, annuals, fynbos plants and herbaceous material for sale.
