SPOTTED AT THE AQUARIUM!
The Kelp Forest ExhibitThe Kelp Forest Exhibit - did you know that this is one of only two such exhibits in the world!

We normally see kelp on our beaches – brown, jumbled masses of old seaweed. At the Aquarium you can experience a live kelp forest in dramatic close-up views. The Kelp Forest provides shelter for an array of local fishes. Occasionally you might even catch a glimpse of a rockhopper penguin ‘flying’ through the water. Watch divers feed the fish on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 12h00.

WHAT ANIMAL WAS SPOTTED ON TABLE MOUNTAIN THIS MONTH?
 Rock Kestrel
The ROCK KESTREL is a Southern African bird and easily recognizable by its blue/grey head.

Their small size is the main difference to other falcons
They hunt for small reptiles, other birds and smaller animals.
They find and breed with one partner for the rest of their lives.

The eggs they lay are red in colour. Did you know that Rock Kestrel’s don’t build their own nests, but nest on cliffs or old nests of other birds.

FACTS ABOUT CAPE TOWN
V&A Waterfront Swing Bridge
The V&A Waterfront Swing Bridge between the Clock Tower and the African Trading Port House was designed and built in 1997. Previously access across this channel was only available with the Penny Ferry. The bridge can support approximately 600 people at any given time. It takes about 60 seconds to complete the arc between the open and closed positions.
