From where can we start the tour?

You can start the tour at any of the scheduled Stops along the bus route, however we recommend our Cape Town Tour Offices outside the Two Oceans Aquarium and in Long Street. In Johannesburg we recommend you start your tour from Gautrain Park Station or Gold Reef City.

Where can I purchase tickets for the Sightseeing Bus Tour?

There are three ways to buy your tickets:

  • On the bus, at any one of our scheduled stops along the way,
  • Cape Town Tour Office (outside the V&A Waterfront and in Long Street) and Johannesburg Tour Offices (at OR Tambo Hall A, at Gautrain Park Station and inside Gold Reef City)
  • Discounted online

Do I have to make a reservation to join the tour?

No need to book, however buying tickets online entitles you to a discount.

What is the difference between the Red City Tour and the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour?

Red City Tour with free Yellow Downtown Tour: this route provides a historical and factual overview of Cape Town, and includes a stop at Table Mountain.

What are the running times for the Red City Tour? (Summer / Winter)

Summer: 1st Bus departs from Bus Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium at 09h00 with departures every 15 minutes.
Winter: 1st Bus departs from Bus Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium at 09h15 with departures every 20 minutes.

What are the running times for the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour? (Summer / Winter)

Summer: 1st Bus departs from Bus Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium at 09h00 with departures every 20 minutes. 

Winter: 1st Bus departs from Bus Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium at 09h00 with departures every 20 min - (Saturday, Sunday,  school & public holidays) and every 25 min (Mondays to Fridays)

What is the cost for a 1-Day Valid Ticket?

› The 1-Day Valid Ticket costs R 170-00 per adult. The online price is R150 (Save R20)
› Kids aged 5 - 17 is R80.
› Kids under 5 are free. (2 children per 1 full-paying adult allowed

This ticket is not route specific, (you can do both the Red City Tour AND Blue Mini Peninsula Tour on the day).

What is a 2-Day Valid Ticket?

› The 2-Day Valid Ticket costs R 270-00 per adult. The online price is R250 (Save R20)
› Children aged 5 - 17 is R170.
› Children under 5 are free. (2 children per 1 full-paying adult allowed)

This ticket is valid for 2 days and can be used to go on both the Red City Tour with Free Yellow Downtown Tour + Blue Mini Peninsula Tours with Free Purple Wine Tour + Canal Cruise + Walking Tour. And from 20 September you also get our Night Tour! All this for only R270! Buy online discounted (www.citysightseeing.co.za) or from our Tour Offices in the V&A Waterfront and Long Street or as you hop on the bus! Best of all? The Canal Cruise, Night Tour & Guided Walk can be redeemed on 1 of 3 consecutive days from date of issue on your 2-Day Ticket. Includes a 17h30 Green Route from Stop 5 & 1 & return to Sea Point as far as Stop 9, President Hotel.

What is the Night Tour?

The Night Tour is available from 20 September to 3 May and departs daily from Bus Stop 1 and the duration is 2 to 3 hours.
Pre-Order your snack pack or picnic hamper from our Tour Offices or from the bus driver before 16h00.

› Departs 17h30 (20 Sep – 31 Oct)
› Departs 18h00 (1 Nov – 7 Mar)
› Departs 17h30 (9 Mar – 3 May)

The Night Bus does not operate from 31 Dec - 04 Jan and on 8 March

This is a non Hop On-Hop Off tour. Pack your picnic basket, blanket and sunglasses as this tour takes you on an unforgettable sunset trip. The Night Tour provides glimpses of the sun setting over the Atlantic Ocean on route to Signal Hill and great photo opportunities of Cape Town settling into nightlife.

› The Night Tour Ticket costs R 100-00 per adult. Buy online for R90 (Save R10)

What is the Canal Cruise?

The Canal Cruise is a Hop On-Hop Off boat trip along the channels of the V&A Waterfront. This 20 minute cruise has 4 Jetty Points that can be explored. Explore the Two Oceans Aquarium, One & Only, City Lodge, Harbour Bridge and Cape Town International Convention Centre. This trip is a winner with kids of all ages. 16 language commentary!
› The 1-Day Valid Canal Cruise Ticket costs R 40-00 per adult.
› Children aged 5 - 17 is R20.

What is the Purple Wine Tour on the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour?

The Purple Wine Tour  is an extension of the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour.  Purple Wine Tour starts at Constantia Nek and takes you into Constantia Valley. Here you can explore three wine estates: Beau Constantia, Groot Constantia Wine Estate and Eagles' Nest Wine Farm. 

› The Purple Wine Tour  is included at no cost in the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour
› Entrance fees and wine tastings and wine is for your own account.

What are the vintage Sidecar Experience Tours?

The Sidecar Tour, in WW2 vintage motorcycles with a sidecar, departs daily from Bus Stop 1, outside the Two Oceans Aquarium, Bus Stop 5, in Long Street, or directly from your hotel. This is a private chauffeur driven tour with a minimum booking of 2 people per tour. One passenger sits behind the chauffeur and one in the Sidecar.

› The Two Hour Option: Online cost R1575 per person - R3150 for two people.
› The Five Hour Option: Online cost  R785 per person - R1570 for two people

What is the quickest way to get to Table Mountain using your bus?

Our Red City Tour offer visitors the most direct and hassle-free way to get to Table Mountain.
Start your tour from the V&A Waterfront at 08H20. And from 1 November to 7 April at 8h00. 

The last bus departs from STOP 1 at 17H15. 

What is the rate for Children and Pensioners?

Children aged 5-15 years pay R80-00 for a 1-Day Valid Ticket & R 170-00 for a 2-Day Valid Ticket. Children under 5 are free. For SA Pensioners we offer a half price discount on all Bus and Canal Cruise tickets every Tuesday and Friday.
Exclusion period: This special is available all year round except from 14 Dec to 14 Jan. (Available only from Bus Stop 1 at the V&A Waterfront (not online) and SA Pensioners can qualify with a barcoded ID book)
