First Carbon Neutral Bus Company in South Africa

City Sightseeing South Africa is the first bus operator in South Africa to be certified as Carbon Neutral.

Respecting the environment in which we live, is one of our guiding principles and is deeply rooted in our culture.

We have also made great inroads into greening the rest of the business and have adopted all the latest available methodology and technology to reduce noise pollution as well as energy and water consumption.  All of our waste is also recycled, which has in turn led to the creation of sustainable employment.

Following an independent carbon audit conducted by Global Carbon Exchange (GCX), a leading strategic sustainability consultancy, we purchased carbon credits from a Cape Town based composting company, called Reliance, to offset our remaining carbon emissions and City Sightseeing have now been officially declared carbon neutral!

We deliver on these environmental assurance standards through strategic environmental goals and initiatives, such as:  

• 100% of vehicles used on our hop on-hop off circuit comply with Euro 4 standard for emissions and environmental impacts.
• Noise Management is managed by the introduction of multi-lingual system via earphones.
• Earphones are recyled, thereby creating an employment initiative and reducing waste
• Goods are purchased in bulk, where possible, to reduce the amount of packaging and subsequent waste problems.
• Care is being taken to advise suppliers and associates of the environmental position of the business.

City Sightseeing South Africa has undertaken to improve the   environmental, social and economic performance of our business to embrace the concept of sustainability. This is the core value of our Corporate Environmental Responsibility.
