City Sightseeing South Africa has undertaken to improve the environmental, social and economic performance of our business to embrace the concept of sustainability. This is the core value of our Corporate Social Responsibility. We make a positive contribution to communities in Cape Town and Johannesburg that need ecomomic growth in order to prosper through donations and enterprise development within the tourism industry.
Through our partnership with a local Johannesburg entrepreneur (Kgomotso Pooe who started So-We-Too) and the establishment of the Soweto Combo Tour we have brought feet through the Soweto destinations. Not only that but the success of the Soweto tour has seen So-We-Too, a start-up business, with has grown and let to the employment of more staff, and start to run more taxis – it is now an example of a thriving South African business that also offers walking and bicycle tours in Soweto, and works hand in hand with various restaurants in the township.
Another wonderful off shoot is that the success of the Soweto Tour prompted us to launch a township tour in Cape Town called LaGuGu which visits the townships of Langa and Gugulethu – this is also a partnership initiative with the same entrepreneurial organization that runs the Soweto tours.
City Sightseeing South Africa acknowledges that our business depends on people. We want our presence to improve the lives and prosperity of disadvantaged communities in the Cape. To this end we are contributors to the TCD trust www.tcdtrust.org.za.
Further we coach guides in the Imizamo Yethu Hout Bay township in Cape Town to establish their own unique walking township tour. Hereby we stimulate economic growth and bring empowerment to the communities where we operate in.
