Appreciate the arts at the Artscape Theatre

The Artscape is the city’s showpiece theatre where all are welcome to appreciate the arts. Culture embraces Capetonians and travellers alike at these centrally sighted escapades of celebration. Leave your linguistics behind and resonate with each Latin rooted word bellowed across the Opera House. Be moved by the journey of Thespian characters exhibiting life its true dimensional platforms on a three dimensional stage. Blur the lines of reality with a live performance of life more impressive than any high definition representation. At Artscape, classic playwrights share devotion with nouveaux productions. International talent bows alongside indigenous encores. Ballet shoe soles inspire seated souls; moods choreograph modern dance movements. Costume creations captivate centuries of detail before the final curtain with no unspoken dress code requirements for audience wardrobe. Rock your Broadway experience at a musical rendition. Take children and their imaginary friends to a puppet production. Find fun at Jazz evenings and inspiration at film festivals. But most importantly, find your love for the arts.

Restaurants

Bizerca Bistro

Cuisine: Tapas, Bistro, French, South African Ambience: Comfy & Casual, Contemporary Cool Award-winning Australian Chef Laurent Deslandes applies his classical French training and the philosophy of the Gallic style of dining here, offering several entrées and main courses from a menu that changes every six weeks, and daily specials depending on the availability and quality of ingredients – there is always a vegetarian, meat or fish option. A chalkboard describes the well-considered wine selection. Their service complements the wonderfully prepared food that has won Bizerca a regular clientele in the short time it has been open. Décor is stark aluminium with stylish black and white geometric swirls. Don’t underestimate this French Bistro just because it’s tucked away off the main roads on the Foreshore. Currently rated as one of the top 10 restaurants in South Africa – you would most definitely need to book a table. And as Chef Deslandes himself says, ‘It’s not fancy French dining, which can be stuffy and intimidating, but true bistro style, which is relaxed without compromising on quality.
