Discover the Cape on a Classic Sidecar Motorcycle
City Sightseeing’s Sidecar Adventure Tours are an exciting new way to discover the magical Cape Point as well as Blouberg, on the West Coast of Table Bay.
Setting off on a World War II styled sidecar motorbike, the Sidecar Adventure Tours start in front of the City Sightseeing kiosk at the Two Oceans Aquarium in the V&A Waterfront. The bike is driven by a knowledgeable and experienced chauffeur with one passenger seated behind the chauffeur and the other passenger in the sidecar.
The 5 Hour Sidecar Adventure, which costs R875 per person takes you on a whirlwind five hour tour which includes a visit to the Cape Point Nature Reserve and to Chapmans Peak whilst the 2 Hour Sidecar Adventure, which costs R400 per person, is a 90 minute round trip that offers spectacular views of Table Mountain and Robben Island. Prices include the Chapman’s Peak toll, Cape Point Reserve entrance fee and use of bike gear.
5 Hour Sidecar Adventure
The five hour Cape Point Sidecar Adventure makes its way through Newlands, Constantia and Bishopscourt before heading up Ou Kaapse Weg and through Silvermine Nature Reserve. The sidecar bike then travels through the Noordhoek Valley, over Blackhill and down the Glencairn Expressway to Simonstown and from there to Boulders beach where you can visit the famous Jackass penguin colony.
From there you go on to the Cape Point Nature Reserve, the southernmost tip of the larger Cape of Good Hope headland and home to a variety of buck, baboons and Cape Mountain Zebra and then through Scarborough and Misty Cliffs, over Chapman’s Peak Drive, through the bustling village of Hout Bay, past Llandudno, Oudekraal and Bakoven and Camp’s Bay before heading back to the V&A Waterfront through Sea Point and Three Anchor Bay – an impressive 150km round trip that takes in the best that the Cape Peninsula has to offer!
› View more than 2200 fynbos species – indigenous shrubland covering the mountains – from the back of a motorcycle or cruising alongside in a vintage World War II sidecar
› Explore the Cape Point nature reserve home to buck, baboons and Cape Mountain Zebra
› Set foot on the southern most tip of the larger Cape of Good Hope headland and romantic meeting place of the mighty Atlantic and Indian Oceans.
Blouberg Sidecar Adventure
The 90 minute Blouberg Sidecar Adventure departs from the V&A Waterfront and makes its way out to Blouberg, situated on the West Coast. From this vantage point, one is afforded absolutely stunning, picture postcard views of Table Mountain as it stands guard over the city of Cape Town as well as a glimpse of Robben Island. Also enjoy the expansive white sandy beaches and glinting blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
The rolling dunes of the Atlantic beach at Blouberg form part of the unique Cape floral kingdom, which is renowned worldwide for its diversity and richness of plant species and the coast of Blouberg plays an important role in South Africa's modern history. It was here on Blouberg Hill that the second British occupation of the Cape started.
