  • Keep an eye out for seals playing and sunbathing in the harbour waters. Bring a jersey with you when embarking on our canal cruise.

  • Don’t forget the sunscreen – boats are the perfect place to catch up on your tan but on hot summer days it’s better to play it safe than sorry.

Cape Town’s NEW Hop On-Hop Off Canal Cruise

Now available EVERY 20 MINUTES!

Cape Town was founded as a Harbour city and has a proud nautical history. Hop on to the City Sightseeing canal cruise to experience the V & A Waterfront from a completely different angle. The cruise includes a trip through the V&A Waterfront's beautiful canal and stops at the One and Only, the City Lodge and the Harbour Bridge before arriving at the Westin and Cape Town International Convention Centre (Bus Stop 3).

Cruise the calm waters of the canal and enjoy the breathtaking views of Cape Town. Learn more about the rich and famous that own apartments along this canal and about the significance of this canal in once again joining the Central Business District to our harbour to complete what was once upon a time was called the "Tavern of the Seas" – when ships from all over the world stopped here to get fresh supplies.

This is a Hop On-Hop Off cruise, so you might decide to spend some time at any of the stops along the way and rejoin a later boat, or use the bus and boat combination to connect Stop 1, Two Oceans Aquarium and Stop 3, Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) in either direction. You could also walk to Bus Stop 3 from Stop 5 (Long Street) and Stop 4 (Lower Long Street) and hop onto the Canal Cruise which will take you back to the V&A Waterfront. Either way, don’t miss out on this unique Cape Town experience!

The Hop On-Hop Off canal cruise has 4 Jetty points and starts from our Tour Office outside the Two Oceans Aquarium:

The One & Only (Bus Stop 1)

With its spectacular location in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and its stunning views of Table Mountain, the One & Only is a destination unto itself. Discerning travellers and Capetonians alike are extended a warm welcome to dine on the celebrated cuisines of Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa and Reuben Riffel, revel in the high energy vibe of the Vista Bar & Lounge, experience the sophisticated local flavours of Reuben Riffel and sample the rare and undiscovered vintages at the One & Only’s very own stunning wine loft.

The City Lodge

The City Lodge V&A Waterfront Hotel is a centrally located hotel at the gateway to the vibrant Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.

A nautical theme runs through the City Lodge V&A Waterfront, and its facilities provide a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Harbour Bridge

The Harbour Bridge is ideally positioned near to the V&A Waterfront within the Cape Town International Convention Centre (Stop 3) precinct. This state-of-the-art hotel provides the ultimate accommodation choice for both business and leisure travellers.

Set against a backdrop of picturesque mountain views with a sea water canal running through the hotel’s bridge wing, Harbour Bridge Hotel & Suites link the city to the sea.

Cape Town International Convention Centre (Bus Stop 3)

The Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) is interlinked with the Westin Grand Cape Town Arabella Quays - a five-star hotel with an excellent location in Cape Town’s foreshore.

Perfectly positioned in Cape Town’s bustling foreshore, the CTICC is City Sightseeing’s Stop 3 and from here visitors can hop onto one of our open-top buses and visit a number of exciting attractions and amenities – from the iconic Table Mountain and the thriving V&A Waterfront right on its doorstep, to popular destinations such as Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, the Groot Constantia Winelands and Hout Bay with a 1-Day or 2-Day Ticket.

› Buy a 1- or 2-Day Ticket and go on the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour, now with a FREE wine tour bus of Groot Constantia, Eagles' Nest and Beau Constantia
